The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) helps eligible Canadians without dental insurance access essential oral health care. If you’re looking for a CDCP dentist in Scarborough, AF Dental welcomes CDCP patients and can help you understand which treatments are covered under the CDCP.

AF Dental in Scarborough, Ontario, is committed to making high-quality dental care accessible to our community. We are a proud participant in the new Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), ensuring eligible residents can receive the essential care they need right here at our clinic. Stop searching for a generic “CDCP dentist near me”—your trusted Scarborough family dentist is ready to serve you.
Coverage is subject to CDCP rules and limits. Before treatment, our team can review which recommended services are eligible and whether preauthorization is needed.
To be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), you must meet several criteria set by the federal government:
Adjusted Family Net Income: Your family’s net income must be less than $90,000.
Lack of Insurance: You must not have access to private dental insurance (through an employer, a family member’s employer, or a purchased plan).
Residency Status: You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and have filed your tax return for the previous year.
CDCP 2026–2027 update: Applications are open for the current benefit period. Use the official Canada.ca application guidance to check the steps that apply to you.
The renewal deadline was June 1, 2026. If you had 2025–2026 coverage and missed that deadline, you can submit a new application for 2026–2027. Coverage will have a gap until approval; care received during that gap is not covered retroactively.
Renewals for 2027–2028 will open in spring 2027. Check the official CDCP renewal page for updates. Confirm that your coverage is active before each appointment at AF Dental in Scarborough, Ontario.
Information checked October 14, 2026. Your eligibility and coverage dates are confirmed by the plan.
With active coverage, these recommended services may be eligible under CDCP rules and limits:
Preventive Care: Regular exams, teeth cleanings, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments.
Restorative Treatments: Permanent and temporary fillings.
Oral Surgery: Extractions, including complex Wisdom Teeth Extractions.
Endodontic & Periodontal: Root canal treatments and procedures for gum disease management.
Prosthodontic Services: Complete and partial removable dentures. Partial dentures require preauthorization.
Orthodontic services are currently not available under the CDCP. Check the official coverage page for updates.
If you have already received confirmation of your CDCP eligibility and coverage dates, we are ready to schedule your visit. Our team can explain how CDCP direct billing works before your appointment.

To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet the following criteria:
CDCP coverage does not mean every recommended treatment is covered. Ask our team to review the proposed services, plan limits and any preauthorization requirements before treatment. Your benefits depend on the plan rules and your eligibility when the service is provided. See Canada.ca: what the CDCP covers for the official details.
The CDCP covers a wide range of oral health services to help maintain healthy teeth and gums, including:
Applications for 2026–2027 are open. Apply through My Service Canada Account or follow the Canada.ca application instructions. If you missed renewal, check the renewal guidance before arranging care. An application alone does not confirm active coverage.
You should visit an oral health provider who has agreed to participate in the CDCP. Before booking your CDCP appointment, always confirm with the dental office that they are accepting CDCP patients and are able to bill Sun Life directly for the covered portion of your treatment.
Preauthorization means that the plan must approve coverage for a proposed service before it is provided. Crowns and partial dentures are examples of services that need this review. Approval is not automatic. Our team can explain the required steps after an examination; see the official coverage guidance.
